Come At Me Now
04:02
|
|||
If the wild dog could whisper
She’d tell you all the things she’s seen, she’s seen
And all the dark in turn
If the old drifter could just explain
He’d tell you what you all should fear
And what lies over the hills
Bye, bye, bye, bye, baby bye bye
Bye, bye, bye, bye baby
Treat me like you knew you would
Hate me like you know you should
Show me how you felt so good
Come on, come on, come at me now
I’m killing the time between disasters
And when you’re on my mind.
Bye, bye, bye, bye, baby
Treat me like you knew you would
Hate me like you know you should
Show me how you felt so good

Rose In My Fist
04:32
|
|||
My love is coming to you like a rose in my -
You turn up and you turn me inside out
Once upon a time, ya, we didn’t have to shout
Lying in a room, but you’re a million miles away
Just waiting to forget everything that I say
It’s Texas in the morning, ya, and it’s New York at night
I can see you're just lookin’ to pick another fight
You’re never where you say you’re gonna be
Why am I looking for you at a quarter past three?
My love is coming to you like a rose in my fist
How can I be a good man when you’re like this?
My love is coming to you like a rose in my fist.
How can I be a good man when you’re like

Wilderness
04:08
|
|||
I am just a lone boy
Wrapped in fur out in the wilderness
I pick a mountain to climb up
Then sit back watch over all of this
I awake with the sun
Find a bed after howling at the moon
I pick a river to jump in
Then look up and float through all of this
Fire in the night sky
Sends you running for home
I walk through the city
Lost when nothing seems to be alive
I pick a ledge to stand on
Then look down and pray for all of us

When We've Arrived
04:27
|
|||
The day rises cold and there's nowhere left to be
And last night is on repeat inside of me
If they called you out, would you be all that surprised?
Just wake me up when we’ve arrived
You have to hit it just right to make it go
The damn thing’s been busted since before Ohio
It’s a miracle we’ve all survived
Just wake me up when we’ve arrived
Well I have a good idea what’s been said about me
But this road only leads me back home to you
The signs go by too fast to read
With an arm over eyes and the wheels’ white noise
Ninety more miles left to go, dear
Just wake me up when we’ve arrived

McTeague
03:42
|
|||
McTeague rode hard across the valley of death
Down from Frisco, with no time to rest
Six pounds of gold, all strapped to the side
Papers called her the dead lottery bride, alright
The hunter saw the men all passing around
A picture of the killer who might be in town
He said, “I know that man, ya, I know him real well,
His name is McTeague & I’m gonna send him to hell”
Day rider
Day rider, what's the price to kill?
The canteen was dry and the air was thick
His horse was acting crazy and started to kick
He rode it hard for the Mexico line
But out in Death Valley, well there’s no place to hide
“Hands up!” he said and put a gun in his back
"Turn round slow, hand me the gold in that sack"
His horse half dead McTeague had nothin’ to lose
He swung 'round hard, kicked up sand with his shoes
Day rider
Day rider, what's the price to kill?
The gun misfired and they started to fight.
Both men were weak, but McTeague had the height.
They fell to the ground, then the hunter was dead.
It’s said that Mcteague then shot himself in the head.

She grew up on the farm, but lived in the city
She was quite tall but you wouldn't call her pretty
Since she was a child, she knew where she was going, Lord
The Devil walked away cause she knew what she was doing
Had a sweet dream, when she was just a little girl
One by one she'd clean up this world
Never had a day filled with pain or blunder, no
When the world's on fire, she'll be dancing to the thunder
Since she was a child, she knew where she was going, Lord
The Devil walked away cause she knew what she was doing

Pickup Truck
05:44
|
|||
Left behind when your daddy left town
Go ahead and squeeze off a round
Raised by the Lord and the back of a hand
Ain’t no way in hell there’s a promised land
A mask, a gun and a map to get away
The devil’s in the details, that’s what they say
In a fiery crash, the deputies died
The warrant it went out, nation wide
Show ya how it’s gonna be
You’re gonna give your love to me
And we’ll run away into the country
Yeah, yeah, kick it up by the fire
Pile it on so the flames go higher
Play banjo till the sun comes up
Then we'll drive away in my pickup truck
It's late at night, you're on the street
You’ll scuff your boots if you drag your feet
Nothin ain’t ever been what it should
Put one in the chamber for the common good

Pick Your Weapon
03:25
|
|||
You pick your weapon
And I'll pick mine
Then I suppose we'll love some other time.
Go clean yourself up
There's blood on the floor
I know we try, but we just can't even the score.
You pick your method
Just give me a reason
If it’s all the same - I declare it open season
You pick your weapon
And I'll pick mine
Then I suppose we'll love some other time

On Top of the World
05:12
|
|||
I refuse to accept anymore of you
There’s never a part that I can’t see through
You say you were never made to me alone
But can you hold onto anything that won't be thrown?
I refuse to find any more for you
Do any of your dreams still come true?
You say you love but just hate today
Why does everything you touch fall away?
I know it's not better to be under the weather
Than to be on top of the world
It's the wrong way around for a conscience to pound
And to see you as more than a girl
I refuse to go help rescue you
There's a crime in everything you do
You say you won't burn it to the ground
But when the smoke fills the air, you're nowhere to be found
But when the smoke fills the sky, you can't be found
I know it's not better to be under the weather
Than to be on top of the world
It's the wrong way around for a conscience to pound
And to see you as more than a girl

Wasted and wounded
my mind is on fire
I would die if you saw
just how much I tremble with desire
Hopeless and helpless
in this dangerous game
when your lights go out
I look up at your window in the rain
I’m wondering how you’ll see the best in me
If all my faces are the same
And I’m hoping that you won’t see the worst in me
After we leave this place together
*Darling, now I know we’ve never really spoken
and you probably don’t even know my name,
but that doesn’t matter to me because I know
that you and I will be together, for eternity*
wasted and wounded
my mind is on fire
I would die if you saw
just how much I tremble with desire
just how much I fumble with desire

SOON, ONE MORNIN’
(traditional)
Oh look, lordy well look, see what the Lord has done
Look, just look, see what the Lord has done
Well look, just look, see what the Lord has done
And I know, Lord, I know my time ain't long
Well soon, Lordy one morning, death come creeping in the room
Soon, one morning, death come creeping in the room
Death come creeping in the room
And I know, Lord, I know my time ain't long
Oh Death, oh death, down that lonesome road
Death, oh death, down that lonesome road
Oh death, down that lonesome road
And I know, I know, lord my time ain't long
Well soon, lordy one morning, death come creeping in the room
Soon, one morning, death come creeping in the room
Death come creeping in the room
And I know, I know my time ain't long
